ǿմýHSC's Chief HR Officer Dennis Burns recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review

Becker’s emphasizes that organizations are only as strong as their people. CHROs and chief people officers work to establish strong, people-focused strategies for recruitment and employee retention. They play a key part in establishing a culture that aligns with the organization’s mission, vision and values.

Burns, who joined ǿմýHSC in February 2023, has worked tirelessly to build a human resources team that focuses on serving employees with excellence. He provides oversight for the HR team that provides services such as employee relations, benefits, compensation, organizational development and engagement, talent acquisition, and workforce planning and strategy.

Becker’s list honors executives who have a wide range of responsibilities related to human resources and are committed to improving their healthcare organizations. Leaders like these are essential to the accomplishments of their organizations.

Prior to joining HSC, Burns served as the vice president of human resources for Steward Health Care in Dallas. He held prior HR leadership positions at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston; Jacksonville Electric Authority in Jacksonville, Florida; Northwest Medical Center: LifePoint Hospital in Winfield, Alabama; the Georgia Department of Human Services in Atlanta, Georgia and Community Hospice and Palliative Care in Jacksonville, Florida.

He also served as a National Malcolm Baldridge Examiner for two years in the 2018 and 2019 cycles. Burns has multiple HR certifications including Senior Professional in Human Resources, Senior Certified Professional with Society of Human Resources Management, Certified Total Strength Deployment Inventory Facilitator and a Just Culture Certified Trainer.

Burns received his Master of Science in Business Administration from Central Michigan University and his Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from the University of North Florida.
